Recognizing the value of voluntary association with civil society institutions of like purpose, the Center for Shared Civilizational Values (CSCV) exists in cooperative fellowship with Nahdlatul Ulama — a network of traditional ahlussunnah wal jamaah (Sunni Muslim) institutions that constitutes the largest Muslim organization in the world.

The Center also works closely with the NU’s 5-million-member young adults movement, Gerakan Pemuda Ansor; with Indonesia’s largest Islamic political party, PKB (the National Awakening Party), which promotes the Humanitarian Islam and Shared Civilizational Values agenda through its membership in the world’s largest political network, Centrist Democrat International; with LibForAll Foundation, Bayt ar-Rahmah and the Institute for Humanitarian Islam, which were established by senior NU leaders; and with the World Evangelical Alliance, which represents over 600 million Protestants in 140 nations.

The Divine Grace of Islam Nusantara – Trailer

“Nahdlatul Ulama, the world’s largest Muslim movement, has garnered international respect and recognition with its embrace of a Humanitarian Islam that recognizes the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the principles enshrined in it and has taken tangible steps to address Islamic concepts that it considers outdated. In doing so, Nahdlatul Ulama has emerged as a formidable challenger to powerful state actors in the battle for the soul of Islam.”
